Inveraray Castle , Scotland

Inveraray Castle is a historic castle located near the town of Inveraray in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It serves as the ancestral home of the Dukes of Argyll, who are chiefs of the Clan Campbell. The castle is situated on the shore of Loch Fyne and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and woodland.

Construction of Inveraray Castle began in the 18th century, with the current building being completed in the 19th century. The castle was designed by architect Roger Morris in the Gothic Revival style, with later additions by Robert Mylne. Its distinctive architecture features turrets, battlements, and pointed towers, giving it a fairytale-like appearance.

Inveraray Castle is open to the public for tours, allowing visitors to explore its grand interiors, which are adorned with fine furniture, tapestries, and artwork collected by generations of the Campbell family. Highlights of the castle include the State Dining Room, the Armoury Hall with its impressive collection of weapons and armor, and the Tapestry Drawing Room.
